Costs would be greatly reduced during this pandemic period of lower sales. Yes, it's heartbreaking, yes, holidays. The folks cut got generous bonuses, Tom's boss mentioned, clearly happy about that detail. Then, he took a call.

Considering all he heard from his boss about his reasons for the policy, Tom Parker wasn't at all convinced. But, he realized it was worse than just that.
