Plans
With casualties mounting, the crickets were getting very tired of these two leopard geckos ravaging their garden. Something must be done immediately. Cricket leadership hotly debated the options, then hastily decided on the hidden-hole plan, it had worked before. But, never against lizards, so crickets were nervous, rapidly digging the trap.
Once it was deep enough- those geckos have long, capable tails- the scrambling crickets teamed up to cover the hole with lilly pads and twigs- the clever gambit was all set. Gathered in the bushes across the hole, the clustered crickets began their click-bait serenade, with the geckos napping nearby. The scent of the insects awoke the lizards before their siren song leg-rubbing confirmed GPS. The hungry geckos needed their lunch.
Crossing a path past some trees, the lizard pair headed for their target, and also straight over the crickets' trap. Except the geckos moved too fast- the covering held- the rest of the inevitable drama, we won't detail here. Typically, after the abrupt, one-sided picnic was over, the panicked cricket leaders could only point legs at each other- obviously, new plans were needed.
